BUYING TIPS FOR SENSITIVE SKIN

Posted by Bart Adams on

Sensitive skin is often misunderstood or grouped under one of the most common skin types, namely dry, oily or combination skin.Sensitive skin, however, is a skin type all on its own and deserves some recognition, because it can be very tricky to deal with.

Keep reading to find out if you have sensitive skin as well as find out how to test a new product for the first time.

Know The Characteristics Of Sensitive Skin

One of the most common giveaways of a sensitive skin is its appearance. Sensitive skin is often red and inflamed and may tend to flare up at every product you try to apply to it.

Don’t even think about fragranced products either, because then you’re set to look like a beet for the rest of the day! The most frustrating part is that, on especially sensitive skin days, you may not even be able to wear makeup to conceal your red skin, because it only aggravates your skin.

Sensitive skin goes a lot deeper than an inflamed complexion though.

Your skin may feel hot, stinging or burning to the touch and it may flake or peel causing you to think you have a dry skin.

In fact, in severe cases, your skin may actually swell up and erupt in horrible rashes too. If you deal with any of these uncomfortable symptoms then we really feel for you and are here to tell you that there is a way to manage your sensitive skin!

Ditch The Chemicals

One of the best things you can do is to completely stop using your conventional products, because they are packed with harsh synthetic chemicals that aren’t doing your skin any favours.
Instead, try an all natural and organic line, such as our wonderfully soothing products here at Stem Organics and let your skin enjoy some serious TLC for once!

Our products include ingredients like soothing aloe to hydrate and calm inflamed skin and Kakadu Plum to provide a potent dose of vitamin C to reduce inflammation, redness and swelling. Other antioxidants work together to perfectly balance the skin, provide luxurious skin softening properties and create a barrier to fight free radicals and keep pollutants out.

Patch Test Before Using A New Product

Even natural products, although far less likely, may cause a flare up so it’s always recommended to perform a patch test before using a new product.

To do this simply apply a thick layer of your new product to the inner forearm or behind the ear where the skin is the thinnest. Rub into the skin until fully absorbed and don’t wash the area for at least 48 hours.

If no irritation like redness or itching occurs then go ahead and use all over your face.

While natural products can certainly make a difference, there are a few other factors such as what you eat and drink that may play a role in flare ups too. Don’t let sensitive skin get you down. Treat it kindly and it will start to get better.
